I am Carly Smyly. What do you need to know about me?

I follow Jesus. I am created with a passion for people to know Him the way I do – as my friend, my brother & my Savior. I desire more than anything to know Christ & make Him known.

God created me with a gift for writing & speaking, and long to use these to teach, train & inspire others to live as Jesus lived – loving his Father & others with his whole being.

That’s why I started this blog. I share what God is teaching me, and give a glimpse into the journey on which God continues to lead me. This path is one of peaks & valleys. I am blessed to look back on times of incredible pain and see redemption & joy.

The majority of my adult life had been spent serving in camp ministry at SpringHill Camps & Forest Home Christian Camps. In my time at these camps I have recruited, hired & trained staff; facilitated teams courses; run a variety of recreation elements; programmed for elementary, junior high, high school, young adult, women, & family retreats; acted; written dramas & curriculum; created worship experiences; designed sets; given talks & sermons; mentored college students; coordinated communications; written for publications, websites, & marketing pieces; directed sales efforts; launched new ministries… the list could go on.

I graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2013 with a Master’s of Theology & Ministry with an emphasis in Youth, Family & Culture. My bachelor’s degree is a BA of Rhetoric and Communications from Calvin College.

As you can see in my photo, I am joyfully married to the love of my life. We celebrated our marriage in Big Bear, CA on August 30, 2014. I can’t wait to share with you my experience and growth as I fall more in love with Justin each day. Oh… and we have 2 pups (Lilly & Gizmo) who are a valued part of our family.
